Introduction
Hello everyone, I am glad you are visiting this site. I am an experienced online Japanese tutor with over 3000 lessons in 7 years. What makes me different from other Japanese tutors is that I can communicate with students using English and Japanese because I lived in New York for 8 years and speak English fluently.
For beginners, I will explain Japanese in English, and as they progress, I will give lessons with Japanese.
I also listen to the interests and concerns of my students and create teaching materials, so I am sure they will like my classes. I also have origami classes and a reading channel, so please take a look at this page. Enjoy!

Megumi-san is a great Japanese teacher! I’m taking lessons to prepare for a long-term stay in Japan and she is very good at explaining grammar, conjugation, the use of particles, etc. and describing them in a way that makes sense to English speakers.
She also explains when textbook examples might be too stiff/formal and teaches phrases that are very common in casual and/or everyday speech (which the textbook doesn’t usually explain).
We also often talk about various Japanese cultural topics (food, locations, holidays, etc.) and she answers any questions I have about everyday life while I’m in Japan. I’m glad to have Megumi-san as a Japanese teacher.

She is patient when we struggle with new grammar or vocabulary, and does her best to help us understand new concepts that are different from our culture.

I have experience with a lot of different Japanese teachers, and Megumi is undoubtedly the best at creating a good learning atmosphere. She excels at adjusting her lessons to my level, even to the point of including more or less detailed explanation of nuances based on my confidence on the topic. She is perfectly flexible when it comes to the content of the lessons, being easily willing to spend a full hour on some small detail I’m curious about. At the same time she has a solid structure to fall back on for weeks I don’t have anything in particular I want to talk about.
Megumi is confident, kind, patient, and she eager in every lesson. I have learned a lot from her, and I habe used the confidence she has helped me build in real-world scenarios many times. Megumi is a great Japanese language teacher and I would recommend Megumi to foreign students of Japanese at any level. Megumi is well prepared and very patient – which anyone that takes a language need – and it is very comfortable to practise conversations, which is also a huge plus.
